I say unto you: one must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. – From Thus Spake Zarathustra

Chaos was the law of the nature; Order was the dream of the man – Henry B Admas

Art is an attempt to bring order out of chaos. Similarly, Entrepreneurship (an art partly) is about creating order out of chaos.

Entrepreneurship involves separating and segregating chaos and order for the benefit of everyone else in the business.

Everyone likes order and clarity and all of us hate chaos.

However, chaos is part of life. Entrepreneur is one who takes the responsibility to deal with chaos and brings order to everyone’s life by using economic activity as a platform or tool.

If you are an Entrepreneur, you are the circumference of a circle that separates chaos and order. You are the boundary that lies between chaos and order.

Everything that is outside the circle is chaos – be it Market for the product or services, the demand pattern, the economy or the business environment. But everything inside the circle need to be in order – quality, timely delivery, costs. You have control over everything that is inside but everything outside is not under the control of an entrepreneur.

Dealing with Chaos is not easy and risky as well. But the rewards motivate Entrepreneurs to deal with Chaos. Entrepreneurs in fact enjoy dealing with Chaos and create a better and stronger boundary to keep the order safe.

Entrepreneurs have just 3 high-level tasks that they need to take care. These tasks provide opportunities to separate chaos and order and in-turn create value for all stakeholders.

3 High Level Tasks:

The first and foremost is Creating Customers and Keeping Customers. Customers are central to any business activity and Entrepreneurs need to have a clear focus on creating new customers and keeping existing customers.  Without customers, the business will not start or will come to a halt if many of the customers leave.

The next important task is getting great people and keeping great people – Any business is about people. So getting great people and keeping them should be one of the priorities of an Entrepreneur. Once you have great people, they will help the Entrepreneurs in many aspects including Creating Customers and Keeping Customers.

Last but not the least, ethics and Complying with Law. Doing business ethically and complying with all the required laws is important.  Doing business unethically is not good for the business and the society it is part of. Complying with all the Laws is must and makes the business sustainable and viable over the long run.

All the countries and people love Entrepreneurs. They create value for everyone – Customers by proving great products or services, Employees – by providing an opportunity to use their skills in a meaningful way, Vendors- by providing an opportunity to use their products and service and the Government – by contributing to the tax net.

Everyone loves order. Order is a finished product.

The raw material to produce order is Chaos. Entrepreneurs are skillful in converting this raw material into a finished product. Entrepreneurship in a nutshell is all about creating order from chaos for the benefit of everyone.
