Little have I imagined working away from office for this long a period. This is impossible, I thought. How can one contribute productively without having a basic workstation at home with just a laptop and no tables or a chair that could support my working posture? How can one have no human connections at all? Ridiculous!!
Here I am exactly 60 days later contributing to my project and managing myself quite well all alone. No complaints!! Happy Me!!
Your thoughts can make or mar you. I changed the way of handling this time. Loaded with positive ideas decided to take it on.! My approach to work and life has changed for the better. Here is what I follow to stay in good mental and physical state.
Stick to a work routine: I make sure I stick to a routine to make myself productive at work. Log in and Log off at definite times. Take smaller breaks for lunch and tea. Lesser distractions from friends and colleagues.
Exercise an hour: This helps me be on my toes, refresh the mind body and soul.
Connect with the team: As someone who manages a team, I make sure to connect with the team once in two days, not only get work updates but also to enquire of their well-being.
Eat Healthy: With no Swiggy delivering food at the clock of a button, it calls for me to cook and have healthy and sumptuous food, which significantly has improved my overall health. I really enjoy cooking – that is true!
Practice a long-lost passion: I have revived two things I used to do a lot. Painting and Reading. Gives solace to my soul.
Learn and Equip: I have signed up for online courses on Cloud Computing and IIBA that would equip myself to a more challenging role and take on more when the era of lock-down ends.
Reach-Out! Many know me as a people’s person. And now no people .. ha ha ha.. Apart from conversing with near and dear ones daily over phone, I set aside time to call people I have failed to talk to. On the list – favorite teachers, people who need help at this hour, friends who I just lost track of.
Pray or Meditate: I do this in my style. Meditation to me, sometimes is sitting in a state of emptiness. Meditation to me, sometimes is thinking positively on how to tackle the days to come.
Sleep at 10: No gadgets or movies or anything after 10 pm at night. Lights Off and me Off to sleep.
We shall all emerge stronger and better from the current situation if we practice and plan for change and positivity!! Conviction and Commitment is the key!
Yes and I am definitely making Hay!! 🙂
